IFS contributed to an international conference ‘Tertiary Education as a Key for Africa’s Development’ on 6th May, 2013 in Milan, Italy, organised by the Institute for International Political Studies (ISPI) in conjunction with the Edu Foundation.

The conference, organised by the Institute for International Political Studies (ISPI) in conjunction with the Edu Foundation, explored the relationship between higher education and development in sub-Saharan Africa, considering both direct benefits and spillover effects, in order to identify the factors that enhance the efficacy of international donors’ funding. Valuable and innovative experiences of higher education cooperation between European foundations/organisations and sub-Saharan universities were presented, with a special focus on research-based programmes.

A preliminary overview of the conference topics is outlined in the Working Paper “Supporting higher education, enhancing economic development: strategies of effective founding in Sub-Saharan Africa” that was presented during the conference.

IFS was invited to share its strategy and programmes and presented the paper “IFS Actions, Strategy and Innovative Programmes”.
