IFS congratulates Professor Igoli

Published: 2022-05-24

As IFS celebrates 50 years of supporting early-career researchers in the GlobalSouth we are proud to share with everyone some exciting news from one of our former grantees, Professor Ogbaji Igoli of Nigeria, who recently sent us this message.

I am pleased to inform you and the IFS community that I have been appointed the Vice-Chancellor of the Pen Resource University in Gombe, Nigeria. This is another recognition of the mentorship and training I have benefitted from IFS. Your support of my research and progress is highly appreciated and it is what has been rewarded by this appointment. I cannot thank all the team at IFS enough. Just consider Pen Resource University as a new home for IFS and research in Nigeria! '

Professor Igoli was awarded his first IFS grant in 2005, for a research project on “Phytochemical evaluation and antimalarial activity of some diterpenoids from Lonchocarpus laxiflorus”. In 2013, he was a member of a team carrying out collaborative research on “Phytochemical constituents, antimalarial and antitrypanosomial activity evaluation of some selected NUS [neglected and underutilized] plants”.
