IFS Welcomes Louise Heegaard, Our New Fundraiser

To diversify and increase IFS´s funding base, Louise will be working in close collaboration with IFS Director Nighisty Ghezae, selected IFS Board and Scientific Advisory Committee members and IFS alumni networks. In addition to strengthening the relationship with current and past IFS core and project funders, Louise will work with donations and major gifts, crowd funding and private sector collaboration.

Louise is a Danish national with extensive experience abroad, having lived in Algeria (4 years), France (8 years), USA (7 years) and Sweden (10+ years). Louise has worked for more than ten years with fundraising and donor relations in the international development and research field, in particular with water and food. She comes most recently from the Stockholm International Water Institute (SIWI) where she worked for more than four years as an External Relations Manager with fundraising, sponsorships and strategic partnerships. In addition, Louise worked with the donor relations team for the International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI) for almost seven years. As an independent consultant, she assisted a Swedish NGO with fundraising mapping and a major EU aid application. She has also worked for International IDEA and began her career in the public education sector in Copenhagen. She worked for one year at the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs (when Denmark chaired the OSCE) during her studies. She has a Masters in Political Science from the University of Copenhagen and a DEUG in Public Administration from Université Paris VIII. She owes her communications skills to journalism studies at San Diego City College and the communications and leadership organization, Toastmasters International. Louise also worked for a couple of years in an executive recruitment bureau – she is truly embracing career advancement!
