IFS signs new Memorandum of Understanding with the Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons

Published: 2015-04-22

IFS has signed new Memorandum of Understanding with the Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW). The new agreement streamlines the way the two organisations choose projects in support of the peaceful use of chemistry and expands the scope of OPCW support to IFS.

Each year several OPCW staff will join with the IFS secretariat meeting to agree on final project selection for co-funding by OPCW. The support from OPCW can be for individual as well as collaborative research and will also support IFS workshops relevant to the peaceful application of chemistry in developing countries. The IFS director said "the funding relationship with OPCW began in September of 2001, the new agreement, signed yesterday, expands the scope of the original agreement and augers well for a long and constructive engagement between the two organisations".
